Established in January 2016, Whitworth Media is a rapidly growing company dedicated to producing the most exciting and informative male-skew television in the business. We produce factual entertainment, ob doc and specialist factual across science, engineering, history and adventure and specialise in working with talent and in access-based television. We develop new formats and content for broadcast and commercial clients in the UK, US and global markets for online, social media and virtual reality platforms, working with terrestrial networks and cable channels as well as major international brands. Our content is sold worldwide through our international distributors, agents and our own on demand platform. Our YouTube Channel Engine Porn attracts a loyal and growing audience.

HUGH WHITWORTH – FOUNDER & CEO

With a background in science and engineering, Hugh Whitworth has been producing television for over twenty years. He began his career as an award winning producer-director of science and engineering based documentaries for all the major UK and US broadcasters including BBC, Channel 4, Sky, Discovery and National Geographic.

While MD and Creative Director of The Gamma Project, Hugh created numerous successful formats and returning series including Engineering the World Rally, Massive Machines, Kings of Nitro, Britain’s Greatest Machines, How to Command a Nuclear Submarine and Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways as well as many single docs for National Geographic’ss Megastructures and Megafactories strands. Hugh is a highly respected specialist in male-skew factual content, producing shows that are fun and accessible with both wide appeal and fiercely loyal core audiences.

MOIRA NOBLE – HEAD OF PRODUCTION

After ten years of producing observational documentaries for Channel 4, ITV, BBC and Channel 5 Moira moved into production management. She has been Director or Head of Production across a range of small to medium independent TV production companies as well as digital producers supplying branded content clients. Moira’s wide experience has allowed her to develop expertise across a broad slate of shows for all the major UK broadcasters and US network and cable channels.

SOPHIE BRACKENBURY – DEVELOPMENT PRODUCER

Sophie began her career in the USA working on flagship productions for The History Channel and PBS including the Emmy Award Winning Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the Mayflower. After several years working in production on series and one off documentaries for Five, National Geographic, Discovery and The History Channel, she began her career in development working with the BBC, ITN Productions, The Gamma Project and is now part of the new adventure with Whitworth Media. Specialist in access-driven factual, factual entertainment formats, history, science and engineering.

ED AVERN – ASSISTANT PRODUCER

Since entering the television industry in 2011, Ed has worked on a broad range of factual programming for a variety of UK and US broadcasters, helping produce stories on everything from the nature of black holes for Science Channel’s How the Universe Works, to the surprising history of bread for BBC 2’s Inside the Factory.  Ed now works as an Assistant Producer in the Whitworth Media development team, working up new ideas for a wide variety of history, science, travel and engineering shows.

Louise Weston – Production Co-ordinator

Louise has been working in TV for more than 20 years.  During her extensive time on Newsnight as a planning researcher she worked across many award-winning stories but is especially proud of setting up the Children in Care series and working alongside the very talented and dearly missed Liz Mackean.  Since going freelance as a production coordinator she has worked on an eclectic mix of shows for the UK, US, Australia and Europe.   Programmes range from Cinemaniacs for CBBC to The Martin Lewis Money Show for ITV, Emergency with Angela Griffin for Sky 1 and the World Music Awards for various broadcasters.  She loves working behind the scenes sorting out the logistics of any shoot anywhere in the world.

SIMON NEWTON – ASSISTANT PRODUCER

Simon started off counting laptops at the BBC in 2014. Since then has worked on a broad range of programmes, taking in BBC 1’s Strictly Come Dancing,  History of The Tube: Going Underground for Channel 5  and Hunted on Channel 4. He nows works on Delivering the World and across Whitworth’s development slate.

BECCA CHIPLEN – PRODUCTION MANAGER

Becca joined the team in 2017 to look after the new series of Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railway Journeys and Whitworth Medias development projects.

Previously, she has worked on a wide range of programmes for Channel 4, BBC and ITV, including  The Real Narcos (w/t), The Millionaires Holiday Club, and Amazing Spaces: Shed of the Year. She has set up shoots across the world in challenging and diverse locations – from luxury cruise ships in the Caribbean to remote and hostile environments in Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Panama.

PAUL KITTEL – PRODUCER/DIRECTOR

Paul has been producing, shooting and directing documentaries and factual programmes for more than twenty years. He has credits for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, National Geographic and Sky.
Experienced at working in hostile environments, he has made numerous editions of Unreported World, as well as Tribal Wives and Around the World in 80 Trades. Paul has also directed several successful UK based shows, such as the multi-award-winning Embarrassing Bodies and Do You Know? More recently he has made Delivering the World for Whitworth Media.

JEFF MORGAN – PRODUCER/DIRECTOR

Jeff Morgan has been producing and directing factual programmes for more than twenty years. He has filmed on every continent on earth apart from Antarctica and worked across many different genres, from music and arts to history and current affairs. He had made highly regarded programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 5 and Channel 4, as well as for the History channel and other digital broadcasters, and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including two Baftas. Connected with Whitworth Media since its inception, he has produced and directed multiple episodes of Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railway Journeys, and also worked on the earlier, similarly titled series, Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways.

JENNIFER PERELLI – SERIES PRODUCER

Jennifer has over a decade of experience in the British and Asian media, with expertise in challenging film making. She has secured unprecedented access to difficult stories across the globe including Africa, South East Asia, Latin America, the Russian Arctic, Australasia, Europe and the UK.

She has spent the last few years travelling the world producing “Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways Journeys” for Channel 5. Prior to this series, she has most recently worked with Bear Grylls on his hit Discovery series ‘Bear Grylls: Breaking Point‘. Jennifer has recently rejoined the production team at Whitworth Media where she will oversee a number of exciting new commissions.

PIOTR KARTER – POST PRODUCTION

Piotr is an edit assistant, editor and filmmaker. He has been working as a freelancer in digital content production for over 4 years now. He began his TV experience at the beginning of 2016 at Knickerbockerglory TV working on programs like GPs Behind Closed Doors, Stageschool and Gypsy Kids just to mention a few.

Being both technically savvy and creative it’s great to have him as part of our team.

JORDAN TALLIS  – POST PRODUCTION

Jordan has both technical understanding along with creative flair within editing and edit assisting.

Having more than five years experience in film and TV, Jordan has improved immensely within the post production industry.

He has worked at many post houses, including The Farm Group, Envy Post Production and Viacom. Working on projects such as Gogglebox, Gogglesprogs, MTV Awards, X Factor, This is England 90’, Tattoo Fixers, Sniper (Netflix) and many others.

He is fluid with using a range of software including Avid, Premier Pro and Adobe Suite. He continues to learn and grow his skill sets while working at Whitworth Media, leading the Post and being a tech savvy part of the team.
